The 77th annual ABCA Convention is scheduled to be held January 7-10, 2021 just outside of Washington, D.C. at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center with an accompanying full virtual convention featuring a live stream of all clinics including main stage, Youth Coaches Session, Expo Theater, Q&A sessions and hot stoves. While the COVID-19 situation may cause social distancing limitations, rest assured, the ABCA is prepared to provide great content and resources for our member coaches!

The four-day event will feature more than 50 clinics across the main clinic hall, Youth Coaches Session and Expo Theater that will be available to watch online. Additionally, the ABCA Trade Show will fill up nearly 200,000 square feet with baseball exhibits of the latest products. Furthermore, attendees participate in Question & Answer and Hot Stove Sessions, which will be streamed online as well, and take part in meetings.

We are closely monitoring the recommended guidelines and safety measures for appropriate social distancing and capacity limits on large gatherings. We will update and change our plans, if needed. Please view updates below as well as FAQs.

2021 ABCA Convention
 – Jan. 7-10, 2021
Gaylord National – Washington, D.C. & Online!

What's our Plan?

  1. Option 1: Full Convention in Washington, D.C. with Full Virtual Convention – The ABCA's first option is to host a full Convention with a full Virtual Convention, including all events, on the scheduled dates, January 7-10, 2021 at the Gaylord National. We will be following all guidelines from health officials as well as the facility to hold the safest meeting possible. We will also be live streaming the main stage, Youth Clinic Sessions, Expo Theater, Q&A Sessions and Hot Stoves for any coaches who are registered for the Convention as well as for any coaches who are unable to attend. Early Bird registration, which opens September 1, is $90.
  2.
  3. Option 2: Limited Convention in Washington, D.C. with Full Virtual Convention – If social distancing guidelines allow us to hold the 2021 ABCA Convention safely in a limited capacity January 7-10, 2021, we will host the in-person meeting as well as offer a full virtual convention. If more coaches register for the in-person event than health officials advise at a later date, registrations will be honored on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will also be live streaming the main stage, Youth Clinic Sessions, Expo Theater, Q&A Sessions and Hot Stoves for any coaches who are registered for the Convention as well as for any coaches who are unable to attend. Early Bird registration, which opens September 1, is $90.
  4.
  5. Option 3: Full Virtual Convention – We are working on plans to host a full Virtual ABCA Convention in the event that we are not able to host an in-person Convention. This will include clinics, post-clinic Q&As, hot stoves, a Virtual Trade Show, meetings and more! The Virtual Convention will run over the same dates and deliver great content, as usual! Anyone registered for the Convention will be automatically registered for the Virtual Convention. The Early Bird price for the Virtual Convention would be the same, $90.
  6.

When can I register for the 2021 ABCA Convention?

Registration opens for everyone on September 1, 2020.

What if an in-person event isn't held due to COVID-19?

If changes are made to the Convention due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will host a full Virtual ABCA Convention. A Virtual Convention will feature a live stream of main stage, Youth Coaches Session, Expo Theater, Q&A Sessions and Hot Stove clinics. Any coaches registered for the Convention in Washington, D.C., will be automatically registered for the Virtual Convention, live video streaming, or may ask for a refund.

Can I get a refund for my Convention registration?

Yes, you may request a full refund for your Convention registration by Dec. 16 for any reason. Those who cancel their registrations will not have access to the Virtual Convention or live video streaming.

Should I make flight arrangements?

At this time it is not advisable to make airline reservations as it is possible that changes will be made to the 2021 ABCA Convention. Please wait for updates regarding the convention before booking travel arrangements. If you do make travel arrangements, please be aware of any airlines' cancellation or change policies prior to booking flight reservations. The ABCA will not be able to assist with your flights in any way.

When can I make my hotel reservation?

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center is currently closed for business until at least Labor Day (September 7). Reservations can not be made at this time and the hotel is not accepting calls regarding our convention. At this time, please do not contact the hotel directly. The ABCA's discounted hotel room block will open at a later date once the property is back open for business.

Can I cancel my hotel reservations?

The ABCA room block is not yet open due to the COVID-19 situation. Once open, yes, any hotel reservations made in the ABCA room block can be cancelled by December 1 for a full refund of your one-night room deposit. It is possible that your reservation will be different, so be sure to check your cancellation policy upon booking.

Should I tell someone if I'm not attending the in-person Convention?

YES! If you are registered for the in-person Convention and your plans change, please email office@abca.org or call (336) 821-3140, so that we may make your spot available to another coach. You can still participate in the virtual convention. If you want a refund and don't want to participate in the virtual convention, be sure to notify us by Dec. 16. Thank you!

Will you offer live video streaming again?

YES! In any scenario, we will be offering a full virtual convention experience including live stream of the main stage, Youth Coaches Session, Expo Theater, Q&A Sessions, Hot Stoves and more! The Early Bird price for ABCA members is $90 and can be done by simply registering for the convention. Anyone registered for the in-person Convention will also have access to the virtual event. If you are registered for the in-person Convention and decide not to attend, you can take part in the virtual convention, but please notify us so we can make your in-person spot available to another coach.

I'm an exhibitor, should I plan on having a booth at the Convention?

YES! As of now, we are planning on hosting a full ABCA Convention either in-person or virtual. In any scenario, the ABCA Convention will include thousands of baseball coaches who attend the Trade Show. If we host a Virtual Convention, you will have opportunities for an exhibit in that. If any changes are made to the Convention, you will have the option of a full exhibit booth refund.
