The 77th annual ABCA Convention is scheduled to be held January 7-10, 2021 just outside of Washington, D.C. at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. While the COVID-19 situation may cause social distancing limitations, rest assured, the ABCA is prepared to provide great content and resources for our member coaches!

The four-day event features more than 50 clinics across the main clinic hall, Youth Coaches Session and Expo Theater in addition to nearly 200,000 square feet of baseball exhibits in the ABCA Trade Show. Furthermore, attendees participate in Question & Answer as well as Hot Stove Sessions, celebrate coaching peers receiving awards, take part in committee & divisional meetings, network at the ABCA Coaches Social and more throughout the weekend!

We are closely monitoring the recommended guidelines and safety measures for appropriate social distancing and capacity limits on large gatherings. We will update and change our plans, if needed.

2021 ABCA Convention
 – Jan. 7-10, 2021
Gaylord National – Washington, D.C.

What's our Plan?

  1. Option 1: Full Convention in Washington, D.C. with Live Streaming  As of now, the ABCA plans to host a full Convention, including all events, on the scheduled dates, January 7-10, 2021 at the Gaylord National. We will be following all guidelines from health officials as well as the facility to hold the safest meeting possible. We will also be live streaming the main stage presentations for any coaches who are registered for the Convention (to allow them to view outside the clinic hall) as well as for any coaches who are unable to attend. The fee for live video streaming will be the same as Early Bird Convention Registration, $90.
  2.
  3. Option 2: Limited Convention in Washington, D.C. with Live Streaming – If social distancing guidelines allow us to hold the 2021 ABCA Convention safely in a limited capacity January 7-10, 2021, we will host the in-person meeting as well as offering live video streaming. If more coaches register for the in-person event than health officials advise at a later date, registrations will be honored on a first-come, first-serve basis. Anyone who registers for the Convention but is not able to attend will be automatically registered for live video streaming, or may ask for a refund.
  4.
  5. Option 3: Virtual Convention with Live Streaming – We are working on plans to host a Virtual ABCA Convention in the event that we are not able to host an in-person Convention. This will include clinics, post-clinic Q&As, a Virtual Trade Show and more! The Virtual Convention will run over the same dates and deliver great content, as usual! Anyone registered for the in-person Convention or live video streaming will be automatically registered for the Virtual Convention, or may ask for a refund.
  6.

When can I register for the Convention?

Registration for renewing members begins on August 17 – this means you must be a 2019-20 member to gain access. Early registration will also include the opportunity to hold a hotel room in the Gaylord National, until they run out. For anyone who is not a 2019-20 member, registration begins on September 1.

What if the in-person event isn't held?

If changes are made to the Convention due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will host a Virtual ABCA Convention. Any coaches registered for the Convention in Washington, D.C., will be automatically registered for the Virtual Convention, live video streaming, or may ask for a refund.

Can I get a refund for my Convention registration?

Yes, you may request a full refund for your Convention registration by Dec. 16 for any reason. Those who cancel their registrations will not have access to the Virtual Convention or live video streaming.

Should I make flight arrangements?

Please be aware of any airlines' cancellation or change policies prior to making flight reservations. It is possible that changes will be made to the 2021 Convention, and the ABCA will not be able to assist with your flights in any way.

When can I make my hotel reservation?

2019-20 ABCA members can hold a hotel room at the Gaylord National during the Convention registration process starting August 17, until they run out, which we expect to be within 48 hours of opening. After that, all rooms available at the Gaylord National or any of the other Official Convention Hotels will be available by calling the hotel starting September 1.

Can I cancel my hotel reservations?

Yes, any hotel reservations made in the ABCA room block can be cancelled by December 1 for a full refund of your one-night room deposit. It is possible that your reservation will be different, so be sure to check your cancellation policy.

Should I tell someone if I'm not attending the in-person Convention?

YES! If you are registered for the in-person Convention and your plans change, please email office@abca.org or call (336) 821-3140, so that we may make your spot available to another coach. You can watch the live video streaming. If you want a refund and don't want to watch live video streaming, be sure to notify us by Dec. 16. Thank you!

Will you offer live video streaming again?

YES! In any scenario, we will be offering live video streaming of clinics. The fee for ABCA members will be $90 and anyone registered for the in-person Convention will also have access to live streaming. If you are registered for the in-person Convention and decide not to attend, you can watch live video streaming, but please notify us so we can make your spot available to another coach.

I'm an exhibitor, should I plan on having a booth at the Convention?

YES! As of now, we are planning on hosting a full ABCA Convention. Even a limited Convention will include thousands of baseball coaches who attend the Trade Show. If we host a Virtual Convention, you will have opportunities for an exhibit in that. If any changes are made to the Convention, you will have the option of a full exhibit booth refund.
