Ed Blankmeyer, the most successful coach in St. John’s University baseball history, led the team to an 829-499-4 (.622) record over 24 seasons. He secured six Big East regular season titles and five conference tournament crowns, taking the team to the NCAA Tournament 11 times, including a Super Regional appearance in 2012. He took home eight Big East Coach of the Year honors and four ABCA/Diamond Sports Northeast Region Coach of the Year awards. He has also coached for USA Baseball, notably leading the Collegiate National Team in 2016 to victories against Chinese Taipei and Cuba, including a historic no-hitter against the Cuban National Team. Blankmeyer has mentored over 80 professional players, including former MLB stars Craig Biggio and Mo Vaughn. Blankmeyer left St. John’s in 2020 to become manager of the Brooklyn Cylones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets. He served as President of the ABCA in 2015 and served as chair of the ABCA’s NCAA Div. I Legislative Proposals committee. He also served on the NCAA Baseball Selection Committee and as President of the Big East Baseball Coaches Committee.
