Tom O'Connell, the only high school coach elected President of the ABCA, has over 45 years of coaching experience. From 1974-2000, he coached at Pulaski High School in Milwaukee, achieving the highest number of wins in the school's history. In 2001, he led Catholic Central High School to Wisconsin State Championships in 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2011, with his teams winning over 500 games. O'Connell served as Chairman of the ABCA's High School Division from 1984-1996, initiating many lasting policies. He is a Past President of the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1987. He remains active in the ABCA, serving on multiple committees and has been named ABCA/Diamond Regional Coach of the Year four times and ABCA/Diamond National High School Coach of the Year in 2004. He has also contributed to the Major League Baseball Envoy program and worked as a scout for several MLB teams.
