Stu Fritz concluded his illustrious 31-year career as head coach of the Flying Dutchmen baseball team in 2024, amassing 674 victories, 10 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championships, and four NCAA Division III tournament appearances. His teams dominated MIAA play with a .643 winning percentage (457-254), claiming league titles in 1994, 1997-1999, 2001, 2003, 2006-2007, 2013, and 2022— the second-most championships in MIAA history. He reached the 600-win milestone in 2021. In addition to his collegiate coaching achievements, Fritz served as the president of the American Baseball Coaches Association in 2020 and chaired the NCAA Championships National Committee. His dedication to the game extended internationally, coaching youth teams in Puerto Rico, Australia, and the Czech Republic. Off the field, Fritz was an associate professor of kinesiology, specializing in physical education at Hope College. Before his collegiate tenure, he coached high school baseball in Iowa, compiling a 72-30 record and leading Humboldt High School to the state semifinals in 1990.
