John McCormack has been a cornerstone of Florida Atlantic University baseball for 34 years, including 16 as head coach. During his tenure, he has guided the Owls to six NCAA Regional appearances, four regular-season conference championships, and a postseason title. McCormack’s leadership has produced 13 All-Americans, 19 All-Region players, and numerous professional baseball alumni, with 103 players advancing to pro careers under his watch. Notably, 33 of the 36 draftees were not selected out of high school, showcasing McCormack’s reputation for player development.
McCormack’s impact extends beyond the field. His commitment to the Boca Raton community and focus on recruiting Florida’s top talent have been vital to FAU’s success. Recognized for his efforts, McCormack was named 2010 Sun Belt Coach of the Year, 2019 Conference USA Coach of the Year, and 2019 ABCA/Diamond Central Region Coach of the Year. His recruiting acumen, developed during 16 years as an assistant and associate head coach, built the foundation for FAU’s rise to national prominence, including a 2002 Super Regional berth and tying a national record with 34 consecutive wins.
