University of Missouri's Kerrick Jackson elected by membership as incoming Fourth Vice President

Kerrick Jackson headshot in Missouri baseball white jersey with yellow tiger stripe backgroundKerrick Jackson has been elected as the American Baseball Coaches Association's incoming Fourth Vice President by the association's membership. Jackson is a 13-year continuous member of the ABCA and currently serves on the association's Executive Committee as the Chair of the Diversity in Baseball Committee. Additionally, Jackson is a member of the association's Lefty Gomez Award Committee and ABCA NCAA Div. I Legislative Committee.

Jackson was nominated for the position of Fourth Vice President by the ABCA Board of Directors during the group's June 2023 meetings in Omaha, Nebraska. The nomination was confirmed via online voting ballot by the ABCA membership. Jackson will assume his new position as ABCA Fourth Vice President at the conclusion of the 2024 ABCA Convention in Dallas. 

In his new role, Jackson will advance to the next higher officer position (Third Vice President, Second Vice President, First Vice President) within the association over the next several years, ultimately serving as ABCA President beginning January 2028 and running through the 2029 ABCA Convention. As Second Vice President in 2026-27, Jackson will be tasked with arranging the General Session clinic speakers for the 2027 ABCA Convention.

Jackson was named head coach at the University of Missouri in June 2023, making him the first Black head coach in Southeastern Conference history. This past season, Jackson led the University of Memphis to the program’s winningest season since 2017. Prior to Memphis, Jackson served as President of the MLB Draft League. He spent three years as head coach at Southern University, where he took a nine-win team to 32 wins, a conference championship and the NCAA Tournament, which earned him Southwestern Athletic Conference and Louisiana Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year accolades.

Jackson was the recruiting coordinator at the University of Missouri from 2011-2015. During his tenure, Missouri captured the program’s first Big 12 championship and had multiple nationally-ranked recruiting classes. Jackson’s other collegiate coaching stops include stints as an assistant at Fairfield, Emporia State, Coffeyville Community College, Jefferson College, Nicholls State and St. Louis Community College-Meramec. He has also coached in the Cape Code League and New England Collegiate Baseball League.
