Don Kirsch

University of Oregon
Inducted in 1972

Don Kirsch became the Oregon head baseball coach in 1948, and never had a losing season in his 23 years in that post (1948-1970). His teams compiled a 445-242 (.648) record. Kirsch guided the Ducks to the pinnacle of collegiate baseball, a 1954 appearance in the College World Series after winning a District VIII championship. His record was the best ever in the now-defunct Northern Division. Kirsch posted records of 29-9, 25-7, 31-11 and 27-8 during a 1962-65 span and was District Coach of the Year in 1963. During his tenure, the Ducks won five Northern Division championships. Eight of his players were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, and four earned All-American honors. In addition, 20 players received All-District honors, and 55 received All-Northern Division recognition.
