Terry Gobert has established himself as one of the most accomplished high school baseball coaches in Indiana history, shaping Jasper High School into a perennial state powerhouse over nearly four decades. Entering his 39th season at the helm in 2026, Gobert’s program-building vision and ability to develop players year after year has turned Jasper High School into one of the state’s most respected programs and a model for high school baseball success. His unwavering commitment to his players and community has created a legacy that stands among the best in the Midwest.
Since taking over the Jasper (Ind.) High School program, Gobert has guided the Wildcats to a remarkable 912-249 record, making him one of just five coaches in state history to surpass the 900-win milestone. His .786 career winning percentage is the highest among active Indiana high school coaches, a testament to year-to-year consistency and his ability to elevate each team to its full potential. That sustained success has translated directly to championship hardware, as Gobert’s teams have captured six Indiana High School Athletic Association state titles—tied for the fourth-most ever—while also finishing as state runner-up on four occasions.
Beyond the state finals, Jasper has dominated the postseason landscape under Gobert’s direction. His teams have won 27 sectional championships, 17 regional crowns, and 12 semi-state titles, achievements that reflect both long-term competitiveness and a standard of excellence maintained across multiple generations of athletes.
Gobert’s impact extends well beyond wins and championships. He has mentored 15 players who advanced to Division I or professional baseball, highlighted by two athletes who earned Indiana Mr. Baseball honors during their senior seasons. MLB Hall of Famer Scott Rolen (Mr. Baseball 1993) and former LSU quarterback and NFL veteran Matt Mauck (Mr. Baseball 1997) both emerged from Jasper’s pipeline, exemplifying Gobert’s ability to develop individual talent and prepare athletes for success at the highest levels.
In recognition of his immense contributions, Jasper High School honored Gobert in 2025 by renaming its historic baseball venue Ruxer Field at Gobert Family Ballpark—a rare tribute that reflects the deep connection between coach, program, and community. His achievements were also formally acknowledged in 2007 with his induction into the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame, cementing his standing as one of the state’s most celebrated baseball figures.
