Dave Jarvis will begin his 28th season as the head baseball coach at Belmont University in 2025, marking his 41st year in coaching. Jarvis has led the Bruins to more wins than any other coach in program history, including nine seasons of 30 or more wins. Under his leadership, the Bruins have claimed four conference championships and while advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2011 and 2012.
In his 36 years as a head baseball coach, Jarvis has an overall record of 1,087-862-2 (.557), including a mark of 763-710-2 (.517) at Belmont.
In 2022, he was named Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Coach of the Year after guiding Belmont to its first OVC Regular Season Championship and placing 30 players on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll. The team had one of the top fielding percentages in the country (.983) and tied a program record with 37 regular season wins and 39 total wins.
Jarvis has coached 29 players who advanced to professional baseball, including Matt Beaty and 2022 MLB Draft pick Guy Lipscomb. Lipscomb was selected No. 151 overall by the Cleveland Guardians, the highest draft selection in program history. Beaty has enjoyed a successful MLB career since graduating in 2015. He spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2019-2021, playing in 240 games, including 15 postseason games. He helped the Dodgers win the 2020 World Series.
In 2011, Jarvis led the Bruins to their first NCAA Tournament victories when they defeated Oklahoma State and Troy in the Baton Rouge Regional. That same year, Jarvis received the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association College Coach of the Year Award.
Jarvis displayed his commitment to his players’ development both on and off the field when he led his team on a mission trip to Nicaragua in the summer of 2023.
From 1985 to 1993, Jarvis was the head coach at Three Rivers Community College in Missouri, earning three Midwest Community College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year awards and an additional honor in women's basketball. He led the Raiders to a 324-152 (.681) record over nine seasons.
Jarvis began his NCAA Div. I coaching career as an assistant at Murray State University in 1993, focusing on hitters, catchers, and baserunning.
Jarvis was a catcher at Three Rivers Community College before completing his collegiate career at Arkansas State University where he eventually became a team captain and earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in education.
He is an ABCA Lifetime Member and is a member of the ABCA’s College Playing Rules Committee.
