Dublin Coffman High School (OH)
Inducted in 2023

Tim Saunders has coached high school baseball in the state of Ohio for 40 years, amassing a career head coaching record of 589-393 (.600). Saunders took over the baseball program at Dublin Coffman High School in 1988, guiding the Shamrocks to 10 league titles, five district championships, two regional titles and a state championship win in 2001. After 33 seasons, Saunders announced his retirement from Dublin Coffman following the cancellation of the 2020 season. More than 100 of his former players played collegiately and a half-dozen were selected in the MLB draft. The Shamrock baseball field is named in his honor. Saunders began his career in 1981 as an assistant coach at Ohio’s Portsmouth High School. In his only season at Portsmouth, he helped guide the Trojans to a Class AA state runner-up finish. His first head coaching job came in 1982 when he became the head baseball coach at Meigs High School in Pomeroy, Ohio. Saunders led the Marauder program for four years, guiding his teams to league titles in his final two seasons. In 1986, Saunders joined the coaching staff at Indiana University, serving as an assistant coach for the Hoosiers under head coach Bob Morgan for two seasons before taking over the program at Dublin Coffman. The 2023 season will mark his 38th season as a high school head baseball coach, as Saunders returns to the dugout for the first time since 2020 to lead the baseball program at Dublin Jerome High School, also in Dublin, Ohio. Since 2018, the former ABCA High School Division chair and past President of the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association (OHSBCA) has served as the Executive Director of the National High School Baseball Coaches Association (NHSBCA). Inducted into the OHSBCA Hall of Fame in 2004, Saunders became the first coach from Ohio to be inducted into the NHSBCA Hall of Fame in 2012. He is also a member of the Central District Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The Lifetime ABCA Member has been a featured clinician at three past ABCA Conventions and served many years on the ABCA High School All-America and Coach of the Year Committee. In 2013, Saunders joined a distinguished group of past winners when he was named the recipient of the prestigious ABCA Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
