In 30 years as Western Michigan's head coach, Charles Maher compiled an overall record of 437-197-7 (.687) and won 13 of the first 20 Mid-American Conference championships before retiring in 1967.
Maher led the Broncos to 10 NCAA Tournaments, advancing to six College World Series, finishing second in 1955 and third in 1952 and 1958. Maher is the second winningest coach ever at Western Michigan.
He was inducted into the Western Michigan Athletics Hall of Fame in 1973 and the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame in 1989.
