Inducted in 2006

The storied career of coach Tommy Thomas came to its conclusion in 2007, when he finished his time at the helm of Valdosta State baseball with 1,308 victories. In 1997, he became only the second NCAA Division II coach to win 1,000 games, and in 2003 he became the all-time winningest coach in Division II history when he won his 1, 199th game, surpassing the legendary John Scolinos of Cal Poly-Pomona. During his tenure, which included 25 years as a member of the GSC, Thomas led Valdosta State to two GSC Championships and a 1979 National Championship. He ranks third all-time in the conference record books with 759 league wins. Under Thomas, the Blazers finished below .500 only four times. As a result, Thomas has been the recipient of numerous individual awards and honors, including ABCA/Rawlings National Coach of the Year in 1979. Thomas has been very active on the national committee level, serving a five-year term, including the chairmanship, on the All-America Committee and a seven-year term on the NCAA Baseball Committee. He has also been a member of the ABCA Ranking Committee. Thomas is a member of the Valdosta State Athletic Hall of Fame (2006) and will be inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.
