Jeff Albies was the head coach at William Patterson University for 33 years, retiring in 2007 with a record of 862-401-15. He led the Pioneers to two national championships (1982, '86) and seven NCAA Div. III World Series appearances. Under Albies, the Pioneers won 11 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) championships, six NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional titles and qualified for the NCAA Tournament 18 times. Six New Jersey Athletic Conference Players of the Year and 28 Division III All-Americans played for Albies, including Dan Pasqua, who went on to the play for the Yankees and White Sox, and Bruce Dostal, who played for the Baltimore Orioles. Prior to his coaching career, Albies played second base in the Atlanta Braves' organization from 1965 to 1968 before playing professionally in Canada (1969-70). He was inducted into the William Paterson University Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003. William Patterson renamed its baseball facility Jeff Albies Field in honor of the winningest coach in its history.
