Ken Kezer enjoyed success for more than 41 years coaching baseball at New Britain High School (Conn.). At the time of his retirement, he ranked third on the state's career victories list, with a record of 554-271. Kezer took over as head coach in 1967 after three years coaching JV. Kezer won state titles in 1972 and '74 and finished runner-up three times. His clubs won league championships 12 times and had a 37-game winning streak in the early '70s. Kezer took USA and New England All-Star teams abroad 11 times, garnering 10 international championships and winning 89 of 97 games. Among the all-stars he coached was former big league slugger Bobby Bonilla, who was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates immediately after the tournament in Sweden. Kezer coached at tournaments in the Philippines, Ecuador, Sweden, Taiwan, Germany, Italy, Australia, Japan and Holland between 1978 and 1999. Also, in 21 years coaching football, seven as varsity coach, Kezer won seven league titles.
