Bob Brian, who retired from South San Francisco High School after 47 years of service (he also spent four years at Gustine High before coming to South San Francisco in 1954), coached 1,170 high school baseball games and won 729 of them for a winning percentage of .623.
Brian didn't limit himself to the high school baseball season, though. He also coached teams year-round, including American Legion teams in the summer, a fall program, and a winter program.
Brian helped revise the high school baseball rule book in the 1970s, and still managed to win 21 league championships.
Brian also founded the South San Francisco Pee Wee League for kids 10 and younger and is a member of the California Baseball and San Mateo County Sports Halls of Fame.
