Jim Dimick coached the St. Olaf College baseball team from 1967 to 1994. In his 27 years as head coach, Dimick's teams won 14 conference championships - seven in the Midwest conference and seven in the MIAC. He compiled a record of 589 wins and 259 losses, giving him a .694 winning percentage.
Under Dimick's leadership, St. Olaf finished second in the conference 17 times and won a berth to the NCAA Regional baseball tournament 13 times.
In addition, Dimick, who served as President of the ABCA in 1992, was also an assistant football coach and assistant basketball coach during his tenure at St. Olaf.
Dimick, is a member of multiple Halls of Fame including the inaugural class of the Minnesota Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame, the St. Cloud State Hall of Fame, the Cumberland (Wis.) High School Hall of Fame and the Minnesota Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Fame.
Dimick was honored as the 1978 Minnesota High School Baseball Coaches Association Dick Siebert Award recipient and was named the 1984 NCAA Midwest Regional Coach of the Year and Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Coach of the Year. Today, the MIAC Coach of the Year and Minnesota High School Baseball Retired Coach of the Year Awards are named after him.
Dimick was actively involved in the ABCA as a member of the Board of Directors, Hall of Fame Committee and Ethics in Coaching Committee.
