As head baseball coach at Nashville's David Lipscomb University, Ken Dugan led his teams to a remarkable 1,137 victories during a 30-year career that began in 1960, making him one of the winningest collegiate coaches of all-time. He is also well known and respected as an author of many books on coaching baseball.
While at Lipscomb, Dugan guided Bison teams to 14 district titles, five area titles and two NAIA national championships in 1977 and '79. He led his program to 50-win seasons twice and reached the 40-win mark eight times.
Over the years, Dugan produced 32 All-Americans and helped several players move up to professional baseball. Many of his players also have had an impact on the state of Tennessee as high school baseball coaches.
Dugan also coached the U.S. Pan American World Games baseball team and the Belgian National team and served as Lipscomb Director of Athletics from 1968-97.
Dugan was inducted into the NAIA Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984, the Lipscomb Athletics Hall of Fame in 1987, the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1996.
