George Wolfman served as Cal's head baseball coach for 19 years (1955-73), compiling a career record of 484-335 (.591). His teams enjoyed 14 winning seasons, capturing the 1957 College World Series, the school's second national title. That year, Wolfman was named Collegiate Coach of the Year. Wolfman produced such Major Leaguers as Earl Robinson, Mike Epstein and Andy Messersmith. Cal baseball's annual Most Improved Player Award was named in his honor in 1973. Wolfman was inducted into the Cal Hall of Fame in 1987.
