At the University of Utah, Pres Summerhays was the head baseball coach for 23 years, compiling a 322-282 record and collecting several league championships. He also served as the golf coach, ski coach and assistant football coach.
Summherhays was also a coach at Carbon High School for 20 years, winning state football titles in 1938 and 1951.
Pres Summerhays excelled in several sports at Granite High and the University of Utah. A four-sport All-State athlete in high school, Summerhays went on to star in football for the University of Utah, where he was an honorable mention All-American.
In 1978, Summerhays was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame.
