2015 ABCA/Rawlings High School All-Region Teams

The American Baseball Coaches Association has released the 2015 ABCA/Rawlings High School All-Region teams. The eight teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA High School All-America Committee.

The ABCA/Rawlings All-Region teams include scores of student-athletes who are moving on to all levels of college baseball and many who were drafted by Major Leage teams this year. The All-Region 3 team alone includes three players who were selected in the top 11 picks of the MLB draft: Colorado Rockies No. 3 overall pick Brendan Rodgers of Lake Mary High School in Florida, Houston Astros No. 5 overall pick Kyle Tucker of Plant High School in Florida, Philadelphia Phillies No. 10 overall pick Cornelius Randolph of Griffin High School in Georgia and Cincinnati Reds No. 11 overall pick Tyler Stephenson of Kennesaw Mountain High School in Georgia.

All-Region first-team selections are eligible for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans and the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Team will be announced on Thursday, June 17.

The ABCA/Rawlings High School All-America team was first recognized in 1969 and a full archive is available at abca.org/awards/all-americans. The ABCA All-America committee is chaired by Jack Thomson of Sierra High School in Manteca, California. The other seven committee members are Scott Steltz of Chatham High School (N.Y.), Michael Hogan of Ferris High School (N.J.), Fred Burnside of South Dade High School (Fla.), Tim Saunders of Dublin Coffman High School (Ohio), Bill McDonald of Blue Valley High School (Kansas), Matt Coleman of Ozark High School (Ark.) and Jerry Hollow of Capital High School (Idaho).

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 6,600 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, Junior College, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth. The 72nd annual ABCA Convention will be held Jan. 7-10, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee.
